Your Environmental Health Office on Fort Irwin
Our mission is to enhance readiness and public health by providing environmental health support to the Weed Army Community Hospital as well as the Garrison on Fort Irwin. Our responsibilities include but are not limited to the following environmental health categories:

Food Safety and Food Handling Certification
Environmental Health inspects all food service facilities. This includes fixed facilities, food trailers/mobile units, and temporary Fort Irwin food events that occur on local and national holidays such as the Fourth of July, garrison Oktoberfest as well as concerts and sporting events.

Please see below for online food certification materials and point of contact for submission of completed forms.

To protect public health, routine sanitary surveillance is conducted on the following facilities: child care facilities, barber/beauty/nail shops, swimming pools, gyms/fitness centers, recreation and RV camping areas.

Pest Management
Routine surveillance is conducted of desert insect populations incl. mosquitos in the Fort Irwin Housing areas. Spot checks and tracking is conducted throughout the year.

Water Surveillance
Environmental Health monitors water quality of domestic water supplies on Fort Irwin. This is done via review of all state mandated water testing results, coordination with Directorate of Public Works on water quality complaints, and ensuring regulatory compliance with federal and state of California regulations.
